FAQ's

  • What is alpha reading? Alpha reading is when an author asks someone or a first group of people to read their novel before self-publishing it or submitting it to agents.
  • What is a beta reader? A beta reader is a secondary person or group of people asked by an author to read their novel for constructive feedback.
  • Will you do line/ copyediting? No. I only offer constructive feedback. I will notify if there are any obvious grammatical errors or if they occur throughout the novel, but I will not be editing them.
  • What’s the difference between developmental editing and alpha/beta reading? Developmental editing looks at the story structure, narrative plot, and character arc and seeks to improve a story. An alpha, beta reader seeks to provide constructive feedback on the story without making suggestions for specific story edits.
  • How do you accept payment? I’ll email you an invoice. Payment is expected for work begins. This prevents me from being overwhelmed with more than one project and allows me to give my full attention to one book at a time.
  • How long does it take you to read and give constructive feedback?
    • 1-2 Weeks for Short Stories, Individual Chapters
    • 3-4 Weeks for a Short Novel/ Novella
    • 4-6 Weeks for a Full Novel
